5 reasons why watching Seinfeld will help you become better at the game of life.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Seinfeld fan. It’s funny, entertaining and most importantly it’s a stupid, stupid show. It took me a long time to realize this, but there are a lot of things to LEARN from Seinfeld. Becoming better at the game of life could mean, doing better in your career or being a better brother / father / mother. It could also mean learning new tricks, or tips on how to make pancakes quicker. Anything that helps you in your life is what i’m going for here.

5 reasons why watching Seinfeld will help you become better at the game of life.

1. The ability to talk about nothing. Do you know how important this is? Have you ever been stuck with someone in your work cafeteria or a relative that you can’t have a conversation with because, well, there is nothing to talk about? Do you know how awkward this is!!  The people who have this unique skill of being able to talk about nothing, are a rare gift to society and should be praised at every possible moment. These are the types of people you want to hang out with because the conversation is always flowing.  I can have a 2 hour conversation on ikea and my experience with ikea. Fuck IKEA and their communist movement. Thank You!

Kramer: You went to the coffee shop without me? I told ya, I just wanted to hop in the shower.
Jerry: That was an hour ago. What were you doing in there?
Kramer: Showering. How long does it take you?
Jerry: Ten minutes.
Kramer: Ten minutes? That’s kooky talk. Hey Elaine, how long do you spend in the shower?
Elaine: Ten minutes.
Kramer: Let me smell you.
Elaine: All right. Whiff away.
Kramer[after delicately sniffing Elaine] Uh… that’s not bad at all.
2.  Getting into situations you have no business being in.  You are thinking, how is this a good thing? It’s more of the ability to get out of your comfort zone and try things you haven’t tried before. It’s the ability to do better at work because you are adamant about putting yourself in situations you have never experienced before.
Kramer: (on phone) Yello? What-delay Industries?
George: (in the bathroom) VANDELAY! SAY VANDELAY!
Kramer: No, you’re way, way off! Well, yeah, that’s the right number, but this is an APARTMENT!
3.  Challenging your every day life.  There is a specific episode in which George was sick of his life. Every day was the same thing and it always yielded horrible results. He hated his job, no girls liked him, and he was just a sucky person.  Then he came up with this brilliant idea to do everything opposite of what he’s always done. He became a ‘yes’ man, and he even started to pick up girls by telling them he was “bald, had no job and lives with his parents”. I’m not saying that should be your new pickup technique, but challenging your every day life is an important thing to do.
Jerry: Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year’s gone by and how little we’ve grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake we know it’s not to be. That for the rest of our sad, wretched, pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end. Inevitably, irrevocably. Happy birthday? No such thing.
4.  Ability to tell your friends that they are stupid, and get away with it.  I’m convinced that each character is skeptical of each other. Skeptical of their motives, and skeptical and what they want to accomplish. Each character questions each other and tells them that what they are trying to do is stupid.  But here’s the kicker: They will always support each other regardless of the decision that the other character makes. Elaine will hold kramer’s parking spot outside while he looks for his birds or Jerry will answer the phone with ” Vandalay Industries” because George needs him too. Kramer ended up messing the whole thing up in the end, but you get the point. Tell your friends that they are stupid, and support whatever they need you to do.

Jerry: You’ve been hiding her from us. you must really like her?

George: Ah! the minute I saw this girl, we just clicked. She’s got such a nice face… hmm, her eyes, her mouth, nose…

Elaine: We know what a face consists of.

5.  Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer. I’m just looking for a reason to post the last quote.

Newman: Please! Take me with you! Please!

Jerry: Get off me! You’re making me sick! Be a man!

Newman: All right! But hear me and hear me well. The day will come — oh, yes, mark my words, Seinfeld — your day of reckoning is coming, when an evil wind will blow through your little play world and wipe that smug smile off your face. And I’ll be there in all my glory, watching, watching as it all comes crumbling down!
